  • Stacks are commonly used in algorithms involving backtracking, parsing, and expression evaluation.

Queues:

  • A queue is a first-in, first-out (FIFO) data structure where elements are added at the rear (enqueue) and removed from the front (dequeue). In Java, queues can be implemented using the Queue interface, with LinkedList being a commonly used implementation.

  • Queues are essential in scenarios such as job scheduling, breadth-first search, and implementing caches.

Sorting Algorithms:

Sorting algorithms are used to arrange elements in a specific order. In Java, the Arrays class provides utility methods for sorting arrays efficiently. Some commonly used sorting algorithms include:

  • Bubble Sort: Compares adjacent elements and swaps them if they are in the wrong order.

  • Selection Sort: Repeatedly selects the smallest (or largest) element from the unsorted portion and places it at the beginning.

  • Insertion Sort: Builds the sorted array one element at a time by inserting each element into its correct position.

  • Merge Sort: Divides the array into two halves, sorts each half recursively, and then merges them back together.

  • Quick Sort: Chooses a pivot element, partitions the array into two sub-arrays, and recursively sorts each sub-array.
